Directions From Houghton County Airport
When leaving the airport, there
will be one major road which takes you out to the highway
(US 41). Turn left onto 41, which will take you south.
Follow 41 southbound to the city of Hancock. 41 will take
you down a hill, around a curve and to the Portage Lift
Bridge. Follow 41 until you are across the bridge. You will
want to stay in the left hand lane once you are on the
bridge.
After you have crossed the bridge, you are in the city of
Houghton. Follow the road as it takes the wide turn to the
left. DO NOT get into the right hand lane or take the hard
right following M26, that will take you out of Houghton and
far away from where you want to be.
Once you have taken the turnaround to the left, you will be
on a one-way street called Montezuma Ave.
Get into the far left lane of Montezuma and go five or six
blocks. You will come to a section where Montezuma merges
with an opposite one-way to become a two-way. At this point,
you will see a statue of a copper miner. Get into the new
farthest left hand lane and take the 180-degree turnaround
which will put you on the opposite one-way street (Shelden
Ave.). Immediately go into the right hand lane. Our hotel,
the Best Western Franklin Square Inn will be on your right,
it is a multi-story hotel across from the Burger King. To
the right, you will be able to pull right up to our front
lobby and check-in area.
