  • Home of North America’s first professional hockey game.
  • Site for numerous JR. Hockey tournaments.

MTU MacInnes Ice Arena: 
1.5 miles from the hotel

  • Home of the Michigan Technological University Hockey Huskies
  • Great Division I hockey.

The Keweenaw has many areas ideally suited to the recreational snowshoer.  The

Michigan Nature Association has many nature sanctuaries on the peninsula & a Nature Conservancy Site is located outside Copper Harbor.  Open to snowshoers & cross country skiers.

The Swedetown recreation center in Calumet has a groomed and lighted sledding hill that is open daily

Mt. Bohemia:

  • 80 acre true Back Country Skiing & Snow Boarding park.
  • Women Ski FREE all season long!
  • High Intermediate to Advanced skiing only.
  • Mt Bohemia recieves More powder than some western mountain ski areas!
  • 31 Total runs (60% gladed), 900 ft vertical drop

Mt. Ripley: 
1 mile from the hotel. 906.487.2340

  • Mt. Ripley is across the water from our hotel, providing a delightful view.
  • Night Skiing is an awesome sight from our restaurant or lounge!
  • Bowl skiing & snowboarding for all skill levels.
  • 425ft vertical drop, 17 runs.

Porcupine State Park: 
52 miles west of the hotel 906.885.5275

  • Family orientated hill.  Children under 9 ski free.  641’ vertical
  • 14 runs.

Michigan Tech Ski Trails: 
(10 k) 1 mile from the hotel.

  • Home of the MTU XC Ski team.
  • Long downhills and lung burners on the uphill characterize these trails, groomed daily.  Tech also boasts 5 km of more gently rolling terrain, immaculately groomed.

Copper Harbor Pathway:
 (20 k) 50 miles north of the hotel.

  • Explore the wilderness of the northwoods.
  • Trails machine or snowshoe groomed as necessary.  For classical skiing only.

Swedetown Trails: 
(30 k) 18 miles north of the hotel.

  • The most used trail system in the Keweenaw.
  • Something for everyone: family skiing, white knuckle, or just nature viewing.

McClain State Park: 
(6 km) 9 miles north west of the hotel.

  • Spectacular lakeview scenery by Superior.
  • Easygoing and a fine environment for family skiing.

Churning Rapids Trails: 
(7k) 4 miles north of the hotel

  • As primitive as it gets.  Whitetail Deer, Snowshoe Hare, and Bald Eagle sightings are common. 
  • Groomed twice a week for striding with ungroomed areas for the adventurous.

Twin Lakes State Park: 
(10 k) 17 miles south of the hotel.

  • Wooded trails with views over Lake Superior.  Maintained by volunteer efforts.

Chassell Trails: 
(10k) 10 miles south of the hotel.

  • Groomed for the traditional skier, the whole family can enjoy these easy to intermediate trails as they wind through the woods over gently rolling hills.

Maasto Hiitho Trails: 
(22k) 3 miles from hotel.

  • Trails offer a variety of topography and several challenge levels.
  • Scenic views over hills, gorge, and creek.
  • Daily grooming for skating and striding is performed with a Tucker groomer.
